Indeed it does, the seal is the same for either black or chrome trim.

Nice Photo URO of antenna wire
My latest 2 windshields have that amber plastic covering a flat type wire coming out of the windshield. Seems to work just fine and eliminates the need to punch a hole at all in the seal. Flat wire just lays against the seal toward inside of car and then routes through the original hole to the froot/frunk. I like it, one less place to allow water to come inside.

Does anyone know if the URO seal can be installed without the metal trim? And can the trim be pressed in (carefully of course) later? The reason I ask, is I am about to install the windshield using the new style URO seal, but now I can't find the chrome trim that was floating around in my garage for years (and thorough one move), so I might have lost it. If I can get away without it, fine, and if I can install it later after I find it, or give up and buy a new pair, so much the better. The car is a 1973 911T with 3.0 engine. Thanks in advance.

Having recently done the windshield (all windows actually), I would say not. The trim is really what holds the gasket in place, and necessary on the windshield more than any other (with the corners). I don't see how you could get it in after the fact. Takes a bit of pushing the "barb" in and finessing the gasket "out" to get it to seat properly.

Todd, thanks. Looks like I'll have to buy replacement trim.

You will not be able to install it with the window installed.

Sounds like the URO seal is a go then.
Has anyone installed one, without the metal trim at all? Will it seal? |

It's a good idea to use the trim. The trim anchor "hook" fills a channel in the seal, which helps maintain its structure.
Found a couple install videos that may be helpful.

Thanks for the inquiry Ivan, unfortunately we don't offer windshield seal 964 541 225 00. We've been considering doing it, but haven't pulled the trigger.

Am I the only one that thinks that those 3 extra millimeters make a significant visual difference?
I am not sure if I like how the extra width looks. Or are the pictures deceiving me?

FYI, Katie at Pelican is still under the impression that the aftermarket seals aren't worth buying.

I also asked Rock Auto if their stock was new or made before 2018, and they couldn't answer me, so I called Uro, and asked if Rock Auto's stock on this part was new or old, and they said they couldn't tell, and the guy on the phone didn't have a good idea of what this part did because he told me I could return it if it leaked, and I told him if it leaked it'd ruin my interior and cause rust, and he said , and I quote, 'Then don't buy it'. I hung up at that point.

We drop-ship for R*** A***, so nearly all URO items ordered from them come straight from our warehouse in Southern California, and would certainly be the latest stock. All of our sales personnel know this.
Edit: A personal message has been sent to you Coblue, please check your inbox.

Call was at about 11:25 AM or so California time.
He did mention that they should have the latest, but R.A. and he both said there was no way to be sure. Quote:

Coblue, I believe R0ck Auto is more akin to Amazon than anything else... essentially they broker the sale and an actual auto parts seller fulfils the orders (with RA taking a vig). Excellent business model! John

My '77 received a new front windshield seal in 2017 of $150 according to the receipt. So given the price it's probably a Porsche product but the seal doesn't seat very well in the upper left corner. I suspect this is one of the reasons for my road noise in the cabin. While driving you can clearly hear wind entering the car from the windshield.
Replacement of this seal is no fun job. But would the new Uro seal cure this road noise in your opinion?
