I just finished replacing my windshield in my '83 911 Cab, ordered a Porsche seal and my buddy and I spent two days trying to get the glass back in. I could not get the corners to work right, so I ordered a new URO seal from Pelican and it worked perfectly. The corners are molded in and it held the alloy trim better and at the very least I was able to finish the project. I would never try this again with the Porsche seal.

That's the original good Porsche stuff from way back in the 80's.

Apples to apples comparison would the current Porsche new parts vs aftermarket, be it fuel pump relays, rod bearings, seals or ignition coils etc.

I agree with MonkeyMan... CV boots can be a durability joke. Not sure which brand it is or supplier that offers boots that totally blow.

My front windshield & seal have never fit correctly---'80 Targa. Gona give this a try. Thanks 3D.

Big thanks to 3Ddesigns911 for the comprehensive write-up and all the great photos, glad you like the new seal!

Here's a quick photo showing the outer lip measurement for those asking how to identify the redesigned version. OEM and our prior version have a lip that's about 8 or 9mm, while our redesign is about 12mm. Also, the photo doesn't show it, but there's another rib hiding next to the inner lip for a total of four ribs, just like OEM.

We discontinued the prior version about four months ago and started shipping the new version about two months ago, so more than likely any orders from Pelican will be the new version. Perhaps Dimitri at Pelican could chime in regarding any seals they might have in inventory, and how long they've have them. The pipeline should be mostly redesigned seals at this point.

Toddu, I'll have to check with the product development department regarding the rear seal and get back to you.

I too had nothing but trouble before. Today however I ordered a new windshield seal and can only hope I will receive new version. Worth an attempt to get rid of those ugly gaps

Thanks for the info Slanski62 and Fixer, we'll have engineering get on this. Was it the "Frame to Body" Quarter Glass Seals that gave you trouble (left 901 543 901 20 and right 901 543 902 20)? Or was it the "Frame to Glass" seal 901 543 191 20 (fits both sides)?

On the front window use a splinth to slowly expand the corners to fit. Splinth a thin piece of wood or plastic rounded to mirror the window corner. Insert under rubber hit with plastic hammer and see it eventually expand to cover the frame. Worked for me on a 72 and 75

Hi Trond and Mike, sent you a PM. (We contacted Pelican for an inventory status update, they should be responding shortly.)

Can you please inform ALL of us when Pelican will have the updated seal
in stock so we can order without having to be concerned or asking
PP if they have the latest seal?

My '86 Cab has the windshield antenna for the radio. Can I use your seal for this application? Does it have a slot/hole for the antenna cable to go through?
