912e cooling fan
Is the cooling fan on the 912E different from a '76 914 fan?
The fan on my 912E has a flat inside surface. The 914 fan that I bought to replace it has a surface that tapers up (see picture). Did they ship the wrong fan, or did I order the wrong thing? Thanks.

Went to garage to check. Mine seems to be flat.Or what I could see of it.I did not see anything pointing upwards as in your picture , the right hand side one.

My guess is that the one on the right mounts directly with only the screws, while the one on the left is mounted by attaching the smog air-pump flange over it. The tapered one is probably earlier 914/vw without the pulley drive for the smog pump.

The one on the right is the early T-4 model. They went to the flat surface to accomodate the smog pump. I got a few. E-mail if you want one, $15 plus shipping.
