No posts in 3 weeks-does this mean all the 912's are running great?

Wow. The 911 board gets, on average, about 10 new posts a day (at least). I check this one every day, and there's hardly ever anything new-come on all you fellow 912 owners, we know our cars need help just like thier 911 brothers. We're #2--we gotta try harder! :> I'm no expert on 912's, but I've spent many, many hours in, on, under, and around my '66 coupe (which is currently in numerous pieces scattered around the garage). The car was headed for the scrapyard when I bought it for a song. I managed to get it running long enough to get it home, then proceeded to take it completely apart. I've replaced floorpans, fabricated sheetmetal panels to replace rotted-out rear seat and deck areas, sandblasted every single suspension part and repainted, replaced all bearings, bushings, seals, and hardware on the chassis. Grade 10 metric for suspension parts, metric stainless for all the body hardware-new hardware is cheap, safer, and a hell of alot easier to put back together. New fuel and brake lines have been run through the tunnel, new bushings and a short shift kit for the shifter linkage make it better than new. Pedal box had been sandblasted, powdercoated, and reassembled with bronze bushings. Calipers are rebuilt and powdercoated. Ball joints, tie rod ends (Turbo), and rotors are new. Old rag joint on steering column has been replaced w/custom machined aluminum spacer(new replacement part is over $200 dollars-when you can find it!) Fuse box is being replaced w/new ATO type. I've spent the last 3 weeks stripping, primering, and wet-sanding the front fenders (yes, just the fenders-I'm picky). Doors and hoods are next (I discovered neighbors frown on bodywork being done at 11 pm when they're trying to sleep-who knew?) Sometimes I wonder-is this a restoration, or an obsession? But, you know, when I torque that last bolt, make that last electrical connection, and fire this thing up and (finally) drive it down the street and around the first corner, somehow, I know it'll all be worth it. Won't it? Like I said, I'm no 912 expert, but if anybody's got a question or a problem concerning how to remove something, fix it, or replace it with a different (aftermarket or stock) part, I've probably done it (the hard way). So, bring on the posts-us 912 guys stand behind our cars-(we've got to, the engine's in back).

I think it's because our 912's have the body of 911's but the heart of the 356's.

Mine has been running great for 21 years.

Generally, I been hanging around the 911 area since 911 body, suspension, wheels, interior, etc. are so much alike. Engine wise it's the 356 area.

912's seem to need very little fuss. Oil & filter change, valve adjustments, tunes up like a VW bug and I'm good for 3000-6000 miles. Some things in life are sweet.
