Help with my Transmission Stuck in Reverse?

This is for my 67 912. At first it was stuck in third gear when I was driving home. I managed to get it out of third but now it's locked in reverse and I can't get it out. I replaced the shifter bushing and disconnected the coupler (accessed from the back seat area) and have ruled out any bushing issues. Any ideas? I'm pretty sure it's internal to the transmission. Simple fix ideas? Major fix ideas? Thanks, Jim

Jim,

I had this happen with a 915 transmission I am not sure what the fix could be for yours but for me it was as easy as draining the fluid, opening up the bottom cover and releasing the pressure that was on the shift guide fork, then putting the cover back on and filling fluid back up.

Also on the 915 you can sometimes push in on the reverse light switch and this forces the reverse gear back where it belongs.

Once again I am not familiar with the differences in our transmissions, perhaps you should post this in the main 911 forum it might get an experienced response.

Good Luck,

Shane

Sorry, You are going to have to pull the transaxle. You could have some major things going wrong. You really won't know until you take it apart.

This is from the information you gave us.
