69 Targa soft / glass rear window
I have a 69 912 targa which originally had a soft window since replaced with a glass window. I am trying to find out exactly what parts are required to restore the original soft window. I understand that there is a frame which is attached to the rollbar and car which the soft window is then attached to. Are there any other parts involved? I have been unable to find any source which shows the exact parts required. Any suggestions?
Thanks for your help. johger2 |

Check out this link. I put pictures of most of the needed parts. I've got a decent pair of handles if you need them.

Many years ago (about 1993) I re-converted a hard window to soft on a '68 911L. The car was originally a soft window. You need many small parts. The PET parts catalog (you can find it online) shows all the parts in detail with numbers. I was able to source a complete soft window with frame and the handles from Oklahoma Foreign. Doubt it would be so easy today. I used the parts manual for all the small hardware pieces (nuts, bolts, screws) and was able to get them from Porsche. Also found the tenax snaps and tonneu somewhere. Wish I still had the car!

soft window frame kit, etc
Here's one place that advertises a soft window frame kit. (scroll toward bottom of page) I do not have any direct experience with them:
Porsche 911 Targa interiors carpet sets convertible top top boot leather seat kits headliners door panels from manufacturer World Upholstery.

Wow, $3100.Things have changed more than I thought. I paid $150 for a complete assembly including the vinyl/plastic which was near perfect. Wonder what my old 911L would be worth today. In 1997, pre internet for me, I advertised it in Excellence and it took a while to sell for $12,500.
