Whats the value
ok, i am toarchard with the question of; do i paint my car with the original (sand/beige) color that i am not in love with or paint it with an original 67 "other" color that i like when i have the knowledge that i will prob. sell the thing and build another. (the car is being restored with almost all the original stuff--upgrade cr radio, newer seats (with original stored), other wise pretty stock. so...any thoughts?

I have a feeling, that originality counts when selling.
And painting with original colour is also easier. Changing the colour for the whole car, and doing it properly, so that all panels are painted, is also much more expensive. So I would recommend stick with the original colour, the one that You don't like... ![]() If You plan to keep the car for many years to come, then paint it to Your liking. |

It's your car, do what you want. Originality counts in less then 5% of the deals I've seen.

If you were going to keep the car then paint it the color that you like. If you are going to sell it then it is best to keep it the original color. Folks are always checking the paint codes later and then bad mouthing the PO for the color change.
However, I am not a big fan of the sand beige color myself. Some do love this color. The best selling colors right now would be: polo red, slate grey, aga blue, and silver. Silver was a special order color in 67 for the US market. If you are doing a complete restoration of this car. Then you have taken the paint down to bare metal so changing the color would not be a big deal. But it would depend on what color the interior is at this time. |

prob. going to keep it. doors, bonnet, motor lid, bumpers, all trim, windows, hardware, off the body. car now down to metal--took me a long time... interior is tan. need to buy more material for back seats, tray, and door parts any suggestions where to find it? with that...polo red would be my thing. i'll just have to live with the bad mouthing.... thanks for the input

if you've taken it down to bare metal, you're doing a color change the right way - if you document the process and go with another original color, it shouldn't hurt the value too much at all.

The Money of Color
Here's an interesting take by the 356 Registry, not the same color palette but the principles are close....
