UniSyn vs. Syncrometer
My Syncrometer arrived Saturday and I could not wait to try it out. Finally got to it last night.
I have had my UniSyn since 1968 when I owned a 911L. I have used it on motorcycles too and felt confidant that I knew how to use it as "effectively as possible" (meaning...within the ball park). At the time that was all there was! I recently installed new 40-IDF Webers so I knew the carbs would be very responsive to adjustment. I set them up with the UniSyn. The Syncrometer is the choice!! Easy to use and read but more importantly, it does not choke off the air going to the throat which always happens with the UniSyn. The carbs don't waiver at all with the Syncrometer on them. I could not believe it. It was easier to make small adjustments with the Syncrometer. I'ts running even smoooother now. My choice...Syncrometer...all the way. I will retire my UniSyn. FYI PS I bought the Syncrometer off e-bay without any problems. Ron D

I just read a story by the maestro where he couldn't say enough good things about the syncrometer. Did you buy from another 356/912 owner or a tool shop on ebay? If there are more I'd be interested. Thxs- Scott

I bought it from a x-356 owner. However, later I found Stoddard is selling them for somewhere around $52 - $55 which is a very good price. There are more than one model Syncrometer so you must be certain which one you need. Good luck Ron D

I need to throw my hat into the ring on this one. I've been using the Unisyn for 20 some odd years and this weekend I broke down and bought a Synchrometer to try out. The Synchrometer is by far the best carb balancing tool to use. The Unisyn gave you park adjustments while the Synchrometer is spot on. If you are into balancing and synchronizing your carbs then the Synchrometer is a very good investment.

Bought my synchometer from Stoddard last week. With all this praise I can't wait to put it to work. Just had the carbs rebuilt and I need some fine tuning. Howard

synchometer from Stoddard last week
Hello all,
It seems as if we're all tuning our cars, must be summer or something. Anyway just for the record, I bought a synchometer from Stoddard, best price I've seen and the tool is a snap to use. My Webers are almost a year old and the last time I messed with the sync I used the bubble tool loaned from a friend. The synchometer is much easier and more accurate. Happy motoring, Chas. 69/912 |
