This will not be very cost effective in a Short Wheel Base car. The Handling will go away with all of the added weight in the rear of the car, making it very tail heavy. Beside loosing a Classic 912 and making it a Renegade.
If you need AC that bad. I would consider a newer Porsche that already has AC. It would have more efficient AC. You would probably end up paying as much or more for the complete change. Which you will probably never get the money out of the 66 when you sell it. It will only look like a classic. You might try the 912BBS.com. They have a Renegade section where they do this kind of thing of changing engines ( Subaru and etc.). Someone may have already worked it out. |

For years, Shasta and several others have offered a 1720cc big bore kit for the 912. That with a new cam and you can increase the power 20% or more.

What Jaems said. It will be more cost effective with better results to get a newer car with AC. If you want to stick with an air cooled rear engine Porsche get 912E or a 911 SC. The AC will not be great but better than anything you could install in your 912.
