912E flywheel lightening. Anyone down this path before?

I'm going to be doing some work on my driveline this winter and have considered this project. Has anyone had this done? Experiences? Obviously, this motor isn't like a Honda in terms of willingness to rev, but it isn't bad either. What clutch kits have you tried? Just looking to start a thread about this part of the 912E.

For crusisng I would not recommend it, for snapy torque down low it feels great..

The MPG will go down as you will find it necessary to vary throttle position alot. The TIV engine has a heavy pressure plate, so lightening the flywheel only does so much good anyway.

Jake,

You are everywhere! I just found a second set of 2.0 heads, so I"m well on my way to doing what you suggested as to that part of my motor.

With regard to flywheel lightening...is there any way to compensate for the heavy pressure plate? I don't drive it enough to worry about fuel economy at all. If the car picks up better for purposes of autocrossing it, I don't care if I get 12mpg.

I have lightened the PP before on full on race engine, its tricky.

ENSURE to have the entire engine dynamically balanced before asembly. Lighteneing anything changes everything. and the less weight you have, the harder it is to balance
