Throttle linkage Help needed

Just putting back together my 67' 912 and getting it on the road. Having a problem getting the slack out of the throttle linkage. I have to put the gas pedal to the floor to get about half throttle at the carbs. So there is slack in the line. I started in the back and adjusted the all the linkage. Problem is when I try to adjust out the slack in linkage rod that runs from the back of the engine down thru the sheet metal to the pick up off the bell housing. It seems there is an extra .5 where it slides on. I can't adjust out. Here's where i'm looking for insite. I was told that the rod for a 912 is shorter and curved vs the throttle rod for a 911. I'm thinking I have the wrong rod on my car and that's why I can't adjust out the slack in the linkage and get full throttle.

I have adjusted out my 356 and 911 with no issues' so I have done this before. I'm thinking i'm stumped be cause I have a wrong part. Love to hear any and all thoughts.

The linkage is for a short wheel base in a 67. The linkage may have been replaced with a one from a long wheel base car.

Just check the linkage from another 912. If you think that may be the case. Also The ball ends have a lot of room for adjustment, as you well know.

If you haven't already. You might want to look at the linkage in the tunnel and the gas pedal.

The rubber inside will deteriorate over time and there will be slop in the throttle system. If you feel vibration in the pedal while driving this could be the reason.

Its located exiting the tunnel between the bell housing on the transmission

found the culprite. it was in the coupler. popped in a new one and was able to take the slop out and tighten up the overall length. good to go now.
