Questions about my 912

Two Questions. I have a 66-67 912. Want to convert it to a right hand drive. Will a 911 sc pedal cluster fit?
Also will I need a booster servo ???

I am not 100% sure. I don't believe it will. I opened a post in our forums. A Pelican community member may be able to answer your question.

The basic Pedal Box will fit - the issue will be with the bodyshell.

If you try to leave the LHD Smuggler’s box in place the pedal box won’t fit as the Smuggler's box is in the wrong position and you would have to position the pedals to close to the driver.

I have seen this done using a Beetle Pedal Box but you would need to lengthen your arms and shorten your legs by around 6".

The car we saw had the steering wheel boss extended and the seat moved back but the driver couldn't reach either 2nd or 4th Gear.

You will need a RHD Smuggler's box and any shell from 1965 to 1989 will work.

There are 4 x small pressings missing from the LHD floor pan which locates the pedal box and these will need to be sourced from a RHD shell.

If you can’t find them we have pressed them and have them in stock.

There are no RHD Floor pans available.

The ‘Boot Floor’ Panel 901.501.036.21 is a RHD panel and will also need to be changed along with the Smuggler’s box and this part is NLA.

You will need a used boot floor plate and if it is from an SC it will have a hole for a servo but then you will not be able to use the 1966/1967 Steering Column so you would also need to obtain a later column and the relevant steering shafts.

If you try to use the LHD Steering shafts the steering will ‘cog’ slightly as the joint angles are incorrect to cancel the torque that will develop in the UJ (Newton’s 3rd Law) so you will either need RHD shafts or you will need to re-set the angles to suit.

If you have an SC pedal Box then you can easily make the conversion to Non-servo.

You can cut a hole in the box to allow a 19mm diameter Master Cylinder and you can fit a Tandem Cylinder Tjhe3re is room in the Smuggler’s box to fit 2 x Fluid Reservoirs.

If you convert to Non-servo using an SC Pedal Box you will also have to change the Brake Pedal and the piston rod to actuate the cylinder.

We manufacture Bias Pedal Boxes for LHD and RHD cars and have several used early RHD Brake pedals in stock.

In general the car will stop well on standard non-servo brakes with some reasonable pads such as Textar.

Can't speak to the left to right conversion but my 1973 does not have a boosted brakes and stops just fine with stock pads.

Chris,

Can you please post some pictures of the 4 x small pressings missing from the LHD floorpan?

I know one of the pressings is for the RHD pedal cluster, but not sure what the other 3 pressings are for?

Thanks in advance.
