Does anyone have a template for cutting an access panel thru the firewall to the engine compartment?
Thx George |

George, I've seen all different sizes big and small. I can measure mine if you would like. Mark

Thanks, but that is not going to be big enough
I think I'll heed the advice I got from a 914World member who advised me to make it big enough to remove the fan housing/alternator assembly through George |

Hi George, I'm not sure I would do that. Your engine/fire wall is a very important part of the structural integrity. If your worried about the removal of the fan housing to remove/service alternator you can modify the fan housing to accomplish that without engine removal. Just my 2cents. Best, Mark

If you are making a large hole, you might want to reinforce all around it. And definitely make it fireproof!! Remember that there's a reason it's called a "FIRE-wall".

I'm using a decent thickness 18 gauge sheet metal plate on my six. Also a bit of thin weather stripping foam rubber around the perimeter to keep any vapors out. Disregard the extra "Bump" at the upper left corner...only needed for some custom engine compartment accessory that I've added.
