914 windscreen washer - how does it work?
Hello,
I want to change the original windscreen washer ssystem on my 1971 Porsche 914. If I put an elecrical pump on to the system, how can I activate this? Can I do this via the existing button on the dash, or do I have to make an extra circuit to let the pump go when needed? Thanks in advance for Your Answer, Marc Zele Belgium |

I cannot remember the exact system used in 1970/71, but assume it had a water valve like the later cars. I made a switch housing and used a small switch to replace the valve. The switch activates a relay that activates the pump. A special disc I made replaces the air hose connection on the tank cap so that the cap is vented but relatively sealed. The pumps, similar to the 914/6, 911 & 928 are readily available.
