Red face OT - Virus! WOW!

I just check my Zone Alarm log. I'm getting "Hit" about 1 to 2 times per minute by infected machines....

That is a lot!

Zone Alarm?? Why would you need that? That is the best selling spyware on the market.

I used it when it first came out, had lots of problems with it. Turns out it lets their sponsers adware in and I had heard it tracks the sites you visit and they sell that inof to other companies. I use a triple NAT firewall on my router. If I need to get more than that, I have a sonicwall pro that a client gave me when they upgraded theirs.

It is rated as the best personal firewall around. It works with my NAT/router/firewall. With certain settings, it prevents POP ups, etc.

You may have had an early version.

It was the first version they had released. I think it was back in 97 or 98. Cant remember back that far anymore. They say the memory is the first to go.

If you get popups that appear out of nowhere (not through link clicking) and you are running Windows 2000 or XP, make sure the "Windows Messenger Service" is disabled.

I would be playing a game, and suddenly it would minimize, to display a weight loss or porn ad. Instead of buying something, I just turned this service off and my major issue with pop-ups was gone.

Things are slowing a bit - only getting "Hit" about every other minute now and a lot more 445's now, not just the 135's
