Head Temp Sensor
Hi all,
I've heard a lot of talk lately about cylinder head temp sender units that are inserted between the spark plug and the head like a washer. I was wondering if anybody has any experience with these? Do they work, how accurate are they, etc. Also, I was wondering where they can be purchased? I would like a sender and gauge combo, hopefully VDO. Thanks,

They're not the easiest things to install nicely; the recess around the plug hole tends to chew them up a little bit. They're not that good for too many R&R (remove and replace) cycles.
![]() They seem to be reasonably accurate, though far from perfect. You will get different answers from different people about what head temps "should" be, as well. You can pick them up at most aftermarket VW and Porsche places, as well as just about anywhere that sells VDO equipment. For instance, you can pick them up from Pelican and help support this BBS. http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/9144/POR_9144_electr_pg2.htm --DD
