Fuel Gauge Sending Unit ????
Has anyone any idea what kind, and what size the wire is that operates the float ?
A little TOOOO much tinkering this afternoon. This car sat for a LOOOOONG time with a 1/2 tank of case. Lots of condensation rust above the 1/2 way mark. Tried to clean the wires. SNAP !!

It is a specific resistance wire. I don't know the resistance figures, but the totals are about 10 ohms when full and about 35-50 ohms when empty.
You can figure the total length of the wires (two wires) and divide 50 by that to get ohms/inch. Then look for resistance wire in that rating that holds up to gasoline. Or just pick up a used sender (or maybe new one!) somewhere. --DD

Get a Three wire connector from FLAPS and splice it in. It makes removing the tank a breeze. Steve

Doesn't the sender have a connector?
I have a spare sender if ya need it. PM me if interested. James

I looked up the cost. I'll buy a new one. I don't need another 30 year old one.
Steve, great idea.

Yes it does but by splicing in a three prong you get a "quick release".

Steve has a great idea. That way you can pull the tank with only undoing the strap. Easy deal. The biggest PIA is taking off the vapor tank.
