Things I learned this weekend
not in any order:
When dropping a 6 with carbs - remove the carbs before dropping the engine (CV Clearance) Removing the oil lines are a B*tch If you properly drain the oil tank, the filter is drained too, unless you invert it ![]() The Power washer is your friend. Dirt and grime are the enemy. Do not fear the power washer Sean likes to finger paint with RTV 2 reasonable fit guys can lift a 911 engine into my jeep Rubber mallets are a great learning tool for how hard you should hit things with them, because if you are too violent, it is self correcting ![]() Wow! There is only 1 bolt holding the 6 to the car!!! It's a big bolt but still! It like to fall on the ground too. Nitrile gloves are da bomb! My neighbors my think I'm nuts when Sean and I start making monkey sounds at each other and waving wrenchs around... Keep plenty of "shop towels" around for oil leaks and minor oil floods. The best spot for the jack stand on the back of the 914/6 is under the rear trailing arm pivot. However, the driver side oil line drains in exactly this spot! Did I mention removing the oils lines are a B*ITCH! They ARE! The guy that fixed my rear suspension console is a thief. He fixed my existing one and stole my replacement. Balancing the engine and tranny on a Jack stand is a PIA. I guess I'm going to buy the "tool" Going to bed now.... James ![]()
