What do I have to do to correct this problem?I put on the wires that were left there by the factory, put on the lights and pulled the fog switch and smoke like u couldn't believe came out of the dash. Need as much info as possible. PLEASE HELP!

Just a guess here, but it sounds like you've got things wired incorrectly. The switch on the dash should be wired to activate a relay (which is itself a type of heavy-duty switch). Your fog lamps then pull their amps thru the relay and not the dash switch. If it is wired wrong, you can pull more amps thru the switch on the dash than it is designed for, causing it to fry.

Break out the Haynes manual...
I was able to install mine just fine in a '75.
Check the wattage of the lights you are installing.

A couple of tricks I would try...

1st. Disconnect the lights.
2nd Disconnect the fog relay
3rd Disconnect the switch

Check the wiring to the haynes manual.

Check for shorts...

Fix as needed.
Connect loads in reverse as seen above.

IMHO

Good Luck....
