What's missing here?
So I'm bolting the suspension back under the '73 and everything seems to be going just fine. When I crawl from underneath the car I see this gap between the aux. support and the rear control arm support (terminology?). It doesn't show anything there (seal) in the exploded views, but I can't imagine they'd leave a gap for all manner of crude to intrude on the torsion bar. Did I miss something?
Sorry about the crappy pic, the reddish area in the center is the exposed torsion bar. ![]()

there is a sponge like washer that goes in there to keep out the gunk. That is if you are referring to the gap under the adjuster cap at the end of the torsion rod.

Nope, this gap is forward of the adjuster cap.
It's kinda hard to see, but the gap is about 1/4" wide, and the reddish spot is actually the torsion bar. It just doesn't seem like there should be that big of a gap without something sealing it off from the elements. ![]()
