Vapor Loc Questions - but not 914

Hey Guys,

This question has nothing to do with 914's but since I have gotten so many of my 914 advice from you experts - I thought somebody out there might know about solving vapor loc.

My friend has a mid 90's Accura & it seems to be suffering from occasional vaporloc. We live in Fresno, Ca which has a hot summer climate & his car frequently won't start after being stopped for a couple of hours. It cranks fine but won't start.

I guess that it could be vapor loc but any suggestions would be great.

Thanks & I promis - NO more Rice Burner Questions

Vern

I can relate to your problem because our old 87 Acura Legend has had a similar problem. This is my daughter's car now. When it gets hot and after running around town making a few stops here and there, it will sometimes not want to start. Like you say it just cranks. But this is after setting several minutes not hours. Might be vapor lock, but I pulled all the injectors out and cleaned/tested them and made sure they were not leaking. A couple showed signs of leaking around the o-rings, so maybe some air was getting into the fuel rail causing hard starts. Your friend might inspect the areas around the injectors for gas leaks, and also see if it's due for a fuel filter replacement.

My "other car" is a Honda. The first two things everyone on their boards says to non-starts:
1) Is the ECU throwing any codes?
2) Check the main relay.

Thanks guys!

I think he should just buy a 914. That way, he'll be a complete auto mechanic by the time he fixes everything.

We'll try your suggestions too.
