Engine Lid Cable Problem

I recently had a torsion bar for my rear trunk break recently and i removed it. After removing it, the engine lid cable when pulled is not lifting the engine lid unless I pull up on the lid at the same time. When I pull the handle for the engine lid it acts like it won't retract all the way (almost like it is stretched). Any ideas of how to solve this? Do I need a new cable?

Another problem: my engine lid does not sit even with the rest of the car (sits higher). It would sit even if there was a little more pressure on it (like someone holding it down all the time!)-any ideas of how to get the lid to sit even? thanks.

Hey Jason
Take a look at the housing where the cable runs through - is it possible the torsion bar may have bent or damaged it somehow, and is binding the cable? Near where the cable and tosion bar are closest perhaps?
Ahh, the engine lid - same prob with mine - take the lid off completely and have a REAL good look at the mounting tabs on the firewall. At one time or another both "L" shaped brackets cracked, and I had to weld the cracks back up. It sits fine now and sho' aint goin nowhere.
Good luck
Jeff
