Tach trouble -- Help!

I am having some trouble with my tach. I've tried the fuse (8) dont think thats the trouble. For some reason it just stays all the way tot he right when i know it isnt that high. Is anyone able to tell me whcih part of the coil one wire goes to and where the other ones go. This may help. Or any ideas on how i could "bypass" and just run a temp. tachometer to see waht the problem is. Thanks for the help

Coil connections--there are three. One is labeled "+" or "15", one is labeled "-" or "1", and then there's the really big connection in the middle of the coil.

There is a black wire (some years it has a red stripe) that connects to the + connection. It is slightly thicker than any other of the wires that hook up to the coil, except of course for that really thick one that connects to the middle connection and goes to the distributor cap.

There are two or three wires that connect to the - connection. There will be a green wire from the points/condensor. There will also be a black wire with a purple stripe (though the purple can fade and look brown or be hard to see) which is thinner than the black power supply wire. And, on L-jet cars, there will be a white wire that supplies an RPM and timing signal to the fuel injection.

Aftermarket ignition parts (e.g., Petronix, Crane XR700, etc.) can change some of this wiring.
