				spark plug gap

just installed the pertronix on my friend's 914 over the weekend and all his old problems just went away! i knew it would help things a lot, just like it did when i put one on my corvair, but this was like a totally different car. my Q is now that i have the pertronix in, what should i set the spark plug gap to and what should the gap be with stock points? when i put the pertronix in my corvair i was told to change the gap from .030 to .032 for a fatter spark and more power, didn't notice much, but some. what do you suggest? tim | ||

Stock spec is 0.6mm for 1.7 and 1.8; 0.7mm for 2.0 cars. That's 0.024" for the 1.7/1.8, and 0.028" for the 2.0. I'd suggest staying with the stock spec, or maybe just a tiny bit more. --DD
