Case Splitting Problem

I am having a heck of a time splitting the case on my latest project.
I've done 6 previous type4 rebuilds and never had this sort of challange before. I did the obvious ( go to bed , come back and check one more time that all the fricking bolts are removed).
I've applied heat to seam and gently beat on the bits that can take abuse (like the extra bit of casting at the top rear). I'm guessing that a previous owner sealed this case with permatex.
Are there any solvents to loosen this sort of stuff up? Any other tricks I can try?
Thanks in advance
Bill

only trick i know of is a "spreader" tool that is put in the oil pump hole to spread the cases. of course, it's only used if all bolts and nuts are removed.....

maybe the tool can be found at a type I site....

Heh... All I had to do was look at the title of the thread. While it was opening, I said "There's a bolt you have not found!"

I am still thinking that there is one. I know you've checked--and checked and checked. But 9 times out of 10, the reason a Type IV case does not split with only a small amount of effort is that the splitter forgot to remove a bolt.

There is an RTV solvent. I forget what it is, but you may be able to find some at your FLAPS.

How many bolts are there that hold the case together?
