injectors not working

Help...I took my perfectly running car apart cleaned everything put it all back together, the starer works fine, it cranks fine but no go.......ideas?

Yes there is a spark, yes the fuel pump works, I pulled out an injector, and when I crank the starter no fuel injector action, yes the trigger part of the distributor is hooked up. i can't find a wire i missed, but???

Any ideas?

Something is unplugged. Check the grounds (crankcase seam at the back, partway under the manifold. Check the MPS plug. Check the plug for the trigger points. Bad wires or connectors also count, for these purposes, as being "unplugged".

Since the injection is telling the fuel pump to run, the injection is getting power. (It's doing its 1.5 second buzz when the key goes from off to on, right?)

I can't think of anything else off the top of my head that causes the injectors to not function at all. (Another sanity check--do they click when you open the throttle by hand?)

Thanks for the ideas. Yes the fuel pump does the 1.5 second buzz, the injector ground is hooked up (and triple checked that it is grounded)

I don't get the injector clicking when I open the trottle by hand (I assume the key is on in the run position). No clicking what does that mean? Thanks for the help

Check the connections to the throttle switch...

Your throttle switch may also need cleaning or replacement...

You can check that the injectors work by hooking a 9 volt battery up to them with alligator clips for a second or two...

No clicking means that the injectors are not getting the signal to open at all. You've ruled out the fuel pump being backwards and quite a few other problems with that test.

If the trigger points or the MPS are unplugged (or the circuit to one or the other is somehow broken), you will get no activity from the injectors. Not sure offhand what other simple things can cause this.

Hello again, I tried the 9 volt battery thing just to rule out the injectors themselves....how could all four injectors break? I replaced the injectors and the car started. I don't know how they broke? they have continuity but don't open or even make a sound when hooked up to 12 volts. Thanks for the tips. I'll get everything put together in the morning and hopefully all will be well for a very long while.

after I had to unstick the non functioning cold start valve, I tried to unstick the injectors again and one is fully functional and the other three are showing signs of losening up. So not broken, but seriously stuck.

Glad to be of some help....

These things just happen sometimes... I've seen things where the injectors get jammed shut because of dirt and other particles crudding up the pintles.. Other times it can be rust..
