transmisson trauma

A while back I was at a scca time trial and upon a hard take off the engine lifted up and slamed back down, I broke both engine mounts . I have replace all the motor and trans mounts since.

This Is my trauma, When starting the car in gear clutch pushed in the car moves like the clutch is still engaged, I just put another trans in and still the same thing the clutch is fairly new and with the engine. Sometimes I cant get it into first with out grinding and If im at a light in first gear I give a little gas and let out the clutch to slowly I hear a gringing sound .

Ive owned 914s since early 80s and have never encountered anything like this.

Do you think that the engine bent the shifting linkage, or some other trauma ????

The local shops seem to thing its the pilot bearing on the flywheel ??

Im baffled anyone have any suggestions before I pull the trans

Thanking you in advance for your help.

It's possible that the clutch cable tube got messed up when the engine jumped up and back down. Can your clutch cable be tightened up any futher? Sometimes the clutch cable tube (the part that goes form the tunnel to the transmission, can get un-seated and the clutch cable may seem tight but when you engage the pedal, this tube moves a little and prevents you from engaging the clutch all the way.

It's a clutch problem, not a transmission or transmission linkage problem. Check the clutch tube (flashlights and mirrors are your friends; pull the center tunnel carpet and center console if any) to see if it moves when you push the pedal. Adjust the clutch--again. Make sure you have enough movement for the throwout lever to fully disengage the clutch.

If the cable, tube, and pedal roll pin are OK, the pilot bearing sounds like the next thing to check. Not uncommon. The Cap'n
