need to fix surface cracking on a factory knob?

I know there is a way to fix surface cracking on factory shift knobs. Any info would be appreciated.

Plastic shops sell a very thin, clear bonding cement for gluing acrylics. Its very thin...like water. Sometimes you can get it to wick into cracks in plastic pieces and they will almost disappear after buffing with plastic polish. I've used this with success on taillight lenses.
