Heater Control Box Cross Reference
Q: Does anyone know if the heater control box(s) on a '75 1.8L are the same as the boxes on a VW bug?? I need to replace both of them and have bug parts accessible.
Thanx |

Sorry, but you're out of luck. If I remember right, the heater control valve for a bug is part of the heat exchange asmy, while that for the 914 is a separate part.

The fuel injected bugs 75-, 411, 412, and possibly the later busses 72-83 have them. I found some for mine on a 411 in the juckyard. And I have since noticed them laying around the above mentioned models on past trips to the junkyard.

i have a 81 vw van and i believe the heater valves are different enough to not be interchangeable. the difference i noticed is in the arm that the heater cable is connected to that controls the valve opening/closing is different. a good way to check to see if parts are the same is to compare part numbers. i bought a bunch of rubber gaskets from a non-914 source because the part numbers were identical.
