so you you say "flat inside", you are refering to the one without the taper? the one on the left?

Look here at the diagram and see the early style fan.

can anyone explain the 2 appearent differences in these marks? in the rear fan there is a 0 where the red mark is located in the front one, and you can see there is nothing on the front one where the red line is the rear one. one of these needs to go on a trip. SOON!! so quickly now, which is the 2.0 impeller fan?

Right off the bat, I'd say it's the top one.

Timing mark for the 2.0L is one blade away from the big spar. That would make the top one the right fit with respect to the timing mark.

Just a different way of marking TDC.....the 0 is TDC on the top one (it is also marked white on the rim) and the red is 27 degrees..(53.5 mm from TDC)

The bottom one is just marked for TDC. You can measure for 7.5 (14.5 mm) or 27 (52.5 mm) or whatever you like from that mark and make your own. That's 1.935 mm per degree for those without a calculator.

Run mine at 34 degrees.....65.79 mm from TDC

The top one looks just like the fan from my 2.0 engine. Once again, I tell you to check the "Timing your 914" Tech Article elsewhere on this site. It has a pic of my fan (removed from the car) and it looks almost exactly identical to the upper one in your photo.

lots of stuff in the shed to haul to j walker's. 1 gone, 1 to finish, 1 to sell. the front yard is almost back to normal. it was pretty ugly for a few days. jeanne is much happier.
