914... Custom Engine Will It Fit

Will A 2.4 work with a 914? Will the Trans Bolt Up? Will The 914-6 motor mounts work? What would have to be done to make this work any ideas?

A 2.4 liter 911 engine? Yeah, it'll work. So will a 3.6... The "sport mount" we sell (AKA Rich Johnson mount) will hold any 911 engine just fine.

There should be no more work to get the 2.4 to fit than there is to get any 911 engine to work--see the "six conversion" section of our site. The 3.0+ motors require some "adaptor magic" to fit the stock transmission, or you could go with a 911 transmission and modify it for mid-engine'd use.

so in other words any 2.4/2.7 will bolt up to the stock 914 tranny? So the perfect match would be the 72 911 s motor then right?

Perfect? Depends on what you're after. Some people think the 3.0 911SC motor is the "perfect" one for them. Some feel that there is no substitute for the 3.6L. Others like the smaller motors...

You need a 914-6 flywheel (same as the 66-69 911 flywheel) to bolt up a 2.0 - 2.7 liter 911 motor to the 914's transmission. All the 2.0s already have that flywheel, of course. I don't recall if the 70-71 2.2s have that same flywheel or not, but the 72-86 cars have a different one that goes along with the 915 transmission.

Check out the "914-6 conversion" section of our website. You'll find a ton of info there.
