Exclamation No spark!?!

How often does one hear of a bad coil right out of the box?

I'll lay it out for you....

New Bosch Blue coil
new cap
new rotor
new plug wires
new plugs
new pertronix ignitor

no spark.....

Holding coil lead from cap near case gets no spark
Tried going back to points and condenser with no success

How to test pertronix?

Need suggestions!! Must get to parade on Saturday.!!!

Did you check for voltage (with ignition on) at terminal 15 like Haynes suggests? The last two pics are from the factory manual.

Can you see the pics above if you right click in the area and choose "show picture" ? Here they are again.

First check for voltage at the thicker black (may have a red stripe) plugged into the coil (+) terminal. You should get ~12V with the ignition on.

Next check that the (-) terminal alternates between ground and no connection when the engine is rotating. The Pertronix should do this, just as the points should.

You might want to check that the ground braid between the points plate and the distributor body is in good shape (and is there!). If not, that would explain why no spark from the points; not sure if the Pertronix uses that as a ground or not.

Try unplugging the tach connection (black/purple; thinner wire than coil power wire) from the (-) terminal on the coil. If that helps, the tach or the tach's wiring is hosed.

You can fake up a points signal with a ground wire, touching it to the coil (-) terminal and pulling it away. See if that produces a spark on the coil center wire.
