Replacing front rotrs this weeked???

Doing that hopefully this weekend.

Was looking in my hanes manual for the torque specs on the nut for the end of the shaft after i put the new wheel bearings and the rotor on. I think it said 11lb/ft.

i thought that might be a lil on the low side.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

THanks,
Billy

Sounds about right. You can check the adjustment by moving the washer with the tip of a screwdriver. If you can move it sideways WITHOUT prying, then it's OK. BE SURE you have the SAME rotor as you're removing. There are 3 different rotors. The Cap'n

Ah cool. Thanks for the tips. I read about the 3 different rotors in the Tech Tips 700. I will make sure that i have the right ones before i go working on it.

thanks,
Billy

There is no torque spec for the thrust hex nut. There is a spec for bearing adjustment, however. You should be able to slide the thrust washer around with the tip of a screw driver ( as stated above).

The 11 ft-lb torque spec is for the clamping screw on the thrust nut.

What they said. 11ftlbs. on the allen head once the nut is in he proper position (which is the washer and screwdriver trick).
