Starting Problems, Still..

The solenoid is new, as is the battery, and I took the seatbelt relay out of the loop. Im getting 11.8 volts to the solenoid when the key is in the start position. still wont start. the starter will turn over when i apply a screwdriver to it manually, and ideas?

Are you getting the voltage at BOTH connections on the starter. The large wire should have 12 volts or more and the smaller wire can be 11 volts or so. What do you mean by "apply a screwdriver onto it"?? You can try a wire directly from the battery to the spade lug on the starter and that will bypass the complete key-relay-circuit board system and if there is 12 volts to both the starter should spin the engine. Check out your other post "starting problems". That will fix it. If you want
it to be like "factory", then rewire it with
10 gauge wire.

How is the tranny ground?

Its always been the cause of my starter problems.

Damn! Thanks for all your input, this car is really driving me nuts! It was supposed to be "ready to drive" when I bought it, after a rear main seal, some brake work, and now starting problems, im ready to drive this thing... I will try a relay tonight. All my other grounds are good. Can I just get a starter relay at any ole automotive place? Im going down to my local Veedub place today to have them test the starter, Thanks!
