Where should I stick it?

So I bought a Oil temp gauge kit from our favourite parts purveyor. Turns out the kit is a sensor and a gauge. With no instructions.

So where should I fit the sensor. Any suggestions?

In the stock setup, there is a plate with a threaded hole for the sensor that goes into the left-front hole in the bottom of the crankcase. Cars without temp gauges have a blank plate, I believe.

If you cannot get one of the stock-type setups, you have to do some figuring out of where the sender can go. One possibility is to drill a hole in the cover plate for that hole, and use a nut to hold the sensor in. Note that the sensor will be exposed to the air, and will probably read low for that reason. It may also be exposed to potential damage that way.

I am not sure offhand what else you could easily do.

A 73+ car should have a green/black wire that goes from the right-front corner of the engine bay up to where the center console is (or would be if yours didn't come with one). You need to run a wire from the sender to that wire, and then plug the wire into the gauge. 70-72 cars will need to run a wire through the center tunnel.
