Current~Todays' Value for a 71' 914
I searched the 914 section and all I can find is older info on these cars values.
Where can I find accurate values?? Where is the best place to list the car for sale?? Does pelican hava a dedicated 914 classifieds...huuummmm...I am mostly a 911 guy so sorry for possibly a dumb question here...? I basically bought a car the other day & my situation in life has changed and I need to sell the entire car now. The car is a model yr 1971 with a build date of 10/70. The body # is 4712903599. It is a targa model & the targa top is fine, just not in the picture attached. My assessment of this particular 914 is based from a good understanding of 911 model tubs and their inherent pitfalls... The car would be a great driver after the rockers are fixed. OR, if you want a racer/autocross car, no better place to start than here as you will already be metal work on the rockers. How about a 3.0L or a 3.6L... talk about a water walker...!!! Odometer shows ~75k miles. Car original color is dark green but has been sprayed orange color. Car is complete with what appears to be original engine & trans. All body parts are present. Both inner & outer rockers on both sides need to be replaced & are actually already off the car and ready for inspection & install of new panels. I am told the engine runs but it needs a fuel pump. Engine has original CIS still on it. Any help with vale...where best to list to sell...any other info I need to post~find out to best inform a potential buyer & to help the saleability of the car, would be greatly appreciated!!! :-) Thanks for your help! Try 914club.com and 914world.com and thesamba.com for classifieds.
I wouldn't give you more than $500 for at car.

thanks for the info!
Is that all these are worth?? Even with a clean title, orig engine & trans that are matching #'s and all of the car is intact... just needs new rocker covers and the usual rubber pcs & what ever one wants to do with it?

Looks like it needs rather more than rocker covers. Looks like major structural problems to me. That's why it isn't worth much.
Matching numbers is not, at this point, of much value except for really excellent-condition "survivors". 914s aren't that collectible yet, but they seem to be heading in that direction. On second look, the rust may not be as bad as I thought. After all, the car hasn't yet folded in half. But the cut-out section on the outer fender hints at Very Bad News for the suspension console and longitudinal in that area. Plus this is an early low-optioned car. A non-runner, color-changed, with what appears to be rot in some important places. You'd probably be lucky to find someone to pay $1500 for it. --DD

I've had my fair share of 914's, four so far, and you are looking at a $500 car. Even at that it won't sell quickly. You could throw $10,000 at it in parts and labor and get it running and it would be a $3500 car IMO. In CA there are more of them so maybe because they are harder to find over on that coast you can get more $.
Parting it out may get you more $ but it is a lot more hassle. |

It would probably be worth more as a runner, but I'm not sure how much more. The rust would scare me off, but I'm very rust-phobic and not capable of doing bodywork.

Worth more in parts than as a whole....
I would be thrilled to sell one like that and get $500

After sitting on a car like that for about 6 months and listing it anywhere between $350 and $600 with very little interest I gave the car away for free. My car was a '72, all original with appearance group (and everything in the group present and accounted for) along with the original window sticker. Mileage was 80k, and verified as real.
Restored and perfect a car like that will trade hands for $10,000. As it sits, it's a give away.

You'd spend to much time/effort to get it running.. And *maybe* you could get $1K for it. Looks like your in Ma? Getting cold up there. Unless someone local wants a project, it could be a while. Southern folks would be too far away to make it economical. To me, it appears like a $500 parts car.
