914 -6

Picked up a real 914-6 engine case type 901/38 can someone give me an idea of value ?

Not a lot, unless you can find someone with the 914-6 that engine came out of. Or one that's close to that and has an owner that wants something close to the original one.

The 914-6 engine was pretty much identical to the tamest and least glamorous of the 911 engine series, the 1969 2.0 liter 911T motor. There are much better options for doing a Six conversion, or for hot-rodding a 914-6. So the potential market is pretty small all in all.

That said, post it on every 914 board in the classifieds,someone may want it and the value would go up.

I Agree. The most value would be for the owner of the car the engine came with originally.

It would also be beneficial to show the serial number of the engine.
1970 - 640XXXX

Yeah; personally I would love to find the 2.0 removed from my car back in the early 80's. I am not saying I would install it, but I would like having it.
