how engine bar mounts to engine
I am getting ready to put my engine back in my 1976 914 2.0. I purchased new motor mounts for the engine bar. the ones that look like hockey pucks and mount directly to the bar itself. I cannot figure out how the engine bar mounts to the engine itself. Can someone help me out . thanks!!!

OK, if I'm doing this correctly, this link will show you a line-drawing of how the mount connects to the engine.
EDIT: Rats, it didn't quite work. Click that link, then click the middle of the three tiny line drawings shown under "Parts Diagrams" on that page. That will show you the line drawing I mean. In short, there is a bracket shaped like an 'L' with a diagonal reinforcement from leg to leg of the L. The back of the L bolts to the crankcase, while the mount bolts to the base of the L. There is one of those on each side (they are mirror images of each other), and one mount hooks up to each one. --DD

engine bar
The mounts that are on my bar are different than the new ones I got from pelican parts. they dont have the upper bolts that bolt into the brackets. Its almost like the engine is resting on the mounts rather than bolted to anything. Did they change the mount bar set up in the later 914?

engine mount
I figured out my problem . The mount was shered in half on both sides. the top of the rubber mount was still attatched to the part that attatches to the engine. Onward ho!!!

Heh, that was exactly how mine failed. Glad you figured it out.
Sure is "fun" working in that tiny little space, though, isn't it? Removing the oil filter makes access a little easier, but more messy... Oil drips right down onto your arm. Ugh. --DD
