Unknown part

I Have a 1976 914-4 2.0 I have been putting her back together again and have a part that looks like a large metal boomerang. I have no idea where it goes. Please help me out thanks

Probably the muffler bracket that bolts on 2 studs on the rear of the tranny and to each side of the muffer-to-heat exchanger connection.

If there are two holes in the center part and both ends might be slotted, it is the bracket.

Post pics and we'll have a better idea of what it is. But yeah, it sounds a lot like the muffler mount.

Note that there were four different kinds; 1.7 (also 74 1.8), 2.0, 75-76 (both 1.8 and 2.0), and 914-6.
