Tool Kit Question

I found some tools in a box in the parts car and wanted to know if this is what came with the car from the factory or if it was something the dealer added when sold.

Wrenches are marked - Selected-Special-Steel - West Germany, and are 12/13mm -
14/15mm - 17/19mm.

The Pliers are marked - Hapewe - Germany.

The lug wrench is marked - Klein -17 x 19-Made in West Germany.

I thought about making up a tool kit for the car with the stuff I found but wanted to know if it is correct.

I think those are aftermarket. I believe that the stock lug wrench was just an open-hex-shaped thing that you put a bar through to turn. The wrenches look similar to what I thought the stock ones are, but I had thought that ours were made by Hazet.

I am not absolutely certain, though. Have you looked in the Brett Johnson "Guide to Authenticity"?

You still need a spark plug socket, wheel lug nut socket and screwdriver. Also look for a hub cap/wheel cover puller and tool bag. I think the wrench was double open ended 10mm and 13mm.

the tool kit that came with the 914 was very similar to the one that came with a Super Beetle, had the lug/spark plug wrench, the screwdriver, which was reversible, 10/13 open ended wrench, tommy bar for lug wrench, even the jack, all stamped "Made in West Germany"

Could be other cars that have this wheel lug socket but it is a 944 socket, still usuable on 914; better in fact than stock one.

I pulled the tool kit from my 1987 - 928s4 today and the wrenches are marked the same " Selected-Special-Steel " - " West Germany " But are in different sizes. It looks like tools are mix and match for the most part .These are original to the car and had not been out of tool holder.

pretty much the same tool kit they put in Superbeetles. If you want a cheap 914 tool kit that is the way to go if you ask me
