4-DVD Set of RR4 at Laguna Seca...

A short 20-minute preview of over eight-hours of raw HD video footage I shot during the RR4 at Laguna Seca.

I'm currently working on producing a four DVD set using the higher quality HD footage I captured during the event. Many digital photos will be included as well.
The footage is simply stunning to watch on a large television screen while the audio makes you feel you're actually reliving the event!

Once the DVD set is available, a notification will be posted here 914-6 GT's Photo Galleries at pbase.com ;)

...and on YouTube Rennsport Reunion IV - YouTube

PS: I also have over 15+ more hours of high-end HD video I personally shot using a "Steadicam® Merlin Arm & Vest" Steadicam Merlin Arm and Vest
of the previous two Rennsport Reunions (II and III). Eventually, I will produce and release those DVD's as well. Really fun to watch after all these years, at the time,
all I did for four straight days was video, didn't have time to shake too many hands, unfortunately...

For more details of the Merlin Arm and Vest, see here http://www.steadicam.com/userimages/Steadicam_MerlinAV-green_2010.pdf

Porsche Rennsport Reunion IV 2011 - QUALIFYING Group 4 - Car #61
This is an excellent video with at least four on-board cameras in the car, maybe more. The video started 'clear as a bell',
but the early morning fog and moisture in the air made the rest of the video a bit fuzzy. I still like that effect. :D

Check out some of the video camera transitions at the following time-lines;
4:47 - 6:00 and starting at around 6:35 you'll see Bruce in his White 935 setting up to make his pass. Fantastic rear-video imaginary, it's not always what's in front.
More at 8:00 - 8:24 - 10:59 and 12:10... Now, imagine all of this on a nice clear day. Great video work from the guys at Vision Wells!

PAY ATTENTION... and you might get some good ideas...

To see the camera set-up on this particular 911 RSR, go to my video (top of this post) and advance to time-line 5:20.
Note the #61 RSR as it approaches, now look at the two roof-mounted forward/rear cameras, as well as a left/rear fender quarter panel mounted
camera (another on the opposite side). I don't know of any other car at this event that was equipped this well with video recording gear.
This is how I would like to set up the video cameras on my car (more work to edit, but a whole lot more fun!).

The Last New 917K Project

These are a couple of photos from hundreds I took while 917K chassis 037 was being built, just about 20 minutes away from where I live, truly an experience I'll never forget. Thanks Carl!

For the rest of the photos, look for them here

Carl flew Gustav from Germany to California to assist in the 917 build. Gustav was already employed at the Porsche Werks department prior to the 917 project, an amazing guy!

Definitely, I didn't have a chance to use my DSLR and now gathering digital photos to complement the video. Thx! SmileWavy

Thanks. :) I think I got a few good ones. It was one of my first forays into controlling camera settings manually.

I am thinking about getting a used DSLR. I just am addicted to the 26x optical zoom on this camera I currently have. The HD video is alright but the audio never comes out in HD so kind of negates that feature. I need to look for the lens I want first, then find a body for it I suppose.

Thanks Armando- Really god stuff and yes the number of cameras makes for some really *****en action shots...... Especially when the #41 Samson car overtakes the #61 car in the early morning practice session fog/slippery track and all ! Can't wait for your finished product and put me at the top of the list for a copy when finished.

Thanks again for a huge effort.......Steve Schmidt #41 RSR

Hello Tadashi! Good to hear from you. You mentioned selling an "Aluminum 2.7 case", was it an original early two liter case, or by chance actually a RSR Alloy case? Just checking for clarification... :D

Talk to you soon!

Armando

What I like about it too is how it remained unmolested for so many years, with not too many owners in-between either. ;)

Next is producing the other pair (passenger side). Pretty much the same steps so we will skip those to move directly to their installation.

Sorry for the long hiatus from continuing this section of the thread. Hopefully I'll stay on task for a while.

I've decided to also post the fabrication photo sequence of the opposite side supports and not just the install photos,
it's a lot more work, but I'm sure some of you will appreciate it.

Moving on...

Well, this is it for now, tomorrow I shall continue. I must say; it has to be incredibly satisfying for someone to know they can create and fabricate out of thin air and come up with results like these.

I continue to be amazed...

PS: If you have a bit of time, this is one of those 'must see videos", on a very familiar track.

Watch it to the end!
