A few have asked how in the heck did I prepay & ship that Rough, matching numbers 914-6 back home to der Fatherland,

well, here is how, photo documentation

Well, a project this big, and apart needs planning.. And when the engine is apart, the easiest way to make sure none of the major bits get lost is to semi put it together..

Lay out the parts,

After laying everything out, taking pix(and sending them in "real time" to the buyer in Germany, you figure what goes back in the engine & what gets boxed.




Now, since the P&Cs are long gone, and were completely useless(for me to say that gives you an idea how bad they were... So how do you mount the heads??

Like those composite cylinders...

The parts that don't go back, get bagged, boxed and this too gets photographed to make it easier for the new owner to know where everything is.

Carbs & air cleaner back on..


And now time to start packing & loading the engine parts in the car.




After bagging & boxing, shrink wrap & tape the boxes, place them in the trunk, again, taking pix & sending at each step..

Wow. You went above and beyond the call. A few years back, I shipped a RHD '65 over to the UK. Every orifice of the car was filled with stuff, except for the engine bay. It was a little ironic because there was a $10k gearbox on passenger floor. A $3k set of rebuilt Solexes stashed in a sealed box. Doughtery cams in another box. An empty 2.0l Aluminum case where the back sets would go, and 2 full sets of 4.5x15 Fuchs. There was barely enough room to reach through the window and steer the thing and pull the e-brake once it was in the container...

Thanks Matt, this car didn't floors
So I had to get creative..
So anything that could be bolted on was.. And bumpers, shift-rod & drivers seat, being to big for the trunks, and no floors made it one more challenge,

big zip ties & shrink wrap to the rescue...

My '65 was missing the floors too. I got creative with some plywood to keep everything in place for the shipping.

I did that for the trunks..

Sorry, I thought I did answer, yes was a cash (wire transfer) deal, I'll be selling the other matching numbers 914-6 after Parade, but it will be for a LOT more $$$

Looks like the VIN is missing a number? (914043224)

Should be 10 digits, not 9
