Directional vs. Asymetrical Tires for 6 conversion with 16x6 Fuchs

Would like opionions on which way to go...Directional vs. Asymetrical. What tends to work better on a mid engine car? I am looking for a tire less than $130/tire. considering BFG G-Force Comp 2's, Continental Extreme Contact DW's or Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport's. I'm getting closer to having my 6 conversion on the road. This is a narrow body car with no mods done to the fender wells. I am running 16x6 Fuch and think that 205/55-16 is a good size choice.

I'm running 205s on my fronts I would think these would work fine for the rears too. My rears are 225s on 7" wheels which required lots of rolling and pulling.

Some 914s won't fit 205s in the rear without pulling the fenders. Most require the fender lip to be flattened to fit them, though some fit 205s just fine. These cars are all just a little different from each other, and usually are different from side to side. So you have to check in both rear fenders to make certain.

The alignment also affects the fit; a good bit of negative camber sometimes helps larger tires fit under narrower fenders.

Be careful on the offset. Some will require spacers and some will just not fit.

I prefer the 205/55-16. As mentioned, sometimes even a 205 can be a tight fit in the rear, depending on fender lip, ride height, springs etc.

No matter the brand, a modern tire is lightyears ahead of the tires an original 6 would have come with, so go with a brand you prefer that fits your budget.
