how do youhold engine mounting bolt from turning while tightening bottom nut

i cant get a wrench in the top bolt 17mm head while tightening bottom nut on engine mount bar.any tips or tricks.was able to do it on passenger side,not drivers.also my engine seems to be a bit to the drivers side after inserting back to car.rubber seal on passenger side has gap between tin and body.how do i get it even.cv joints line up

Try another angle. For at least one of those, I was able to get a 12-point box-end wrench (with an angled head) onto the nut on the top.

I believe that at some point I also used two sockets and ratchets, one for the top and one for the bottom. 17mm was a size where my 1/2" drive and 3/8" drive sets overlapped, so I was able to use both of those.

thanks,what about engine placement being off to one side,?im assuming there is wiggle room to get both drivers and passengers side even in engine bay.somehow i assumed mounting nuts would take care of that.

I'm not sure about that. I recall that the 73+ outboard mounts that went along with the side-shift transmission did have ovaled holes in the middle for the large bolt. I don't remember much if any possible adjustment elsewhere. And I'm not familiar enough with the 70-72 tail-shift setup to tell you what if any adjustment is available there.
