Least expensive is Megasquirt. But you have to solder the board together yourself, and program it, and come up with the intake and injectors and so on. There are places that will solder the thing together for you, and some that will program it for you, but of course those add to the cost.
SDS (Simple Digital Systems) makes a simple system that is easier to install. I think you still have to provide the manifolds and throttle body. Most of the others I can think of are rather more expensive. And you still have to deal with the intake manifolding and such. Oh--CB Performance has an EFI setup that includes independent throttle bodies. That's one instance where you don't need to work out the intake manifold. Or slap a set of Webers on there. Any way you go, you'll need to invest some time and $$ into tuning. --DD

Megasquirt is the cheapest ECU but not the cheapest to install since you will have to fabricate everything. If you have the intake from the stock FI system you can reuse it.
The CB system is bolt on and includes most of the parts you will need. SDS is mostly ECU and sensors so you will need to fabricate the intake or reuse the factory FI system. I think the CB system is the best value if you are starting with nothing. If you are resourceful, the Megasquirt would be number 2 on the list. You will also need fabrication skills for either the MS or SDS systems.

Maybe I missed it but a 2.0L is not a 'big four'.
If that is the case, either of the factory D-Jet/LJet FI systems can be made to work, the D-Jet is out of the box and would be the least expensive. |

Having just gone through this on a 911, the Megasquirt is horrid.
You can easily make ITB's out of motorcycle throttle bodies on the cheap. Suzuki I find is best, and they use Keihin injectors... which are prevalent in road cars like the Honda S2000 (which is a correct injector for the 3.0-3.2 911. When I do this again, I'll use the Electromotive Tech GT.

FWIW, generally speaking, the terms "best" and "least expensive" rarely describe the same item.
