Front trunk carpet install options

I am ready to install the new front carpet and board .

After all the cleaning I am a bit hesitant to use glue to hold the back piece .

What are my options ?
- Velcro.
- I even thought about a light board and mount the carpet to that.
- How about a couple of snaps ( I know that would be 3 maybe 4 small screw holes but think that would be a nice way to do it.

Thanks for any input

What back piece are you talking about? If you mean the carpet on the vertical bulkhead, glue is the way to go. The small screws that you are talking about with the snaps run the risk of putting holes in the fuel tank, which will not make anyone happy. The carpet will also tend to sag in between the snaps, which looks pretty ratty. The 911 gets away with it because the snapped-in edges are mostly or all below a folded-over lip of the trunk.

Velcro may work, but it may result in some extra bumps and bulges in the carpet material where the patches of velcro are. If the velcro is right up at the top of the bulkhead, keeping the top of the material up near the top of the metal, there may be a noticeable gap between the carpet and the bulkhead.

You can try other solutions, but gluing it in is certainly the simplest way to go. Any particular reason you don't want to do that?

Just with all may cleaning the trunk actually looks really nice ...
then to hide it and cover it with glue just got me thinking as my 75 911 is snapped.
I'll move forward as it was from the factory .. glue it is ...
snaps on the top line of carpet is an inch or more away from the tank and is a double wall there so the screw would go through the first wall and be far from the tank if it was a "new / "singer 914" I am sure that would be what was done .
