What all do I need to do to a 1972 914 2.0 litre if it has been sitting for a couple of years before I decide to start it up....Help!!!!!!!! new PORSCHE owner needs advice from other members???

I split this out from the thread it was in, because it was very off-topic for that one...
Anyway, a few things to do: 1. Change all the fluids. Oil, transmission oil, brake fluid, gasoline. 2. Change all the fuel and vacuum hoses. 3. Clean up the brake rotors as best you can. 4. Remove the spark plugs and squirt a little bit of your favorite lightweight oil (e.g., Marvel Mystery Oil) in each. Just a tsp or so! Rotate the engine by hand to make sure it isn't siezed. You might want to let it sit a day or two with the oil in there. 5. Check, re-charge, and/or replace the battery. Be really careful with it at first--the insides of the brake system can go bad through corrosion when the car sits... Make sure the brakes are good before you get out into traffic or get up to any speed! --DD
