dash options

Hey Guys,

Well I'm looking for options in the dash department. I've a fairly good one with a few slipts. I've got the dash cover, but heat has warped it and it's looking a little bad these days.

So Has anyone tried using that grey felt they put on the GT's?? I'me really considering it, but cannot find the felt. Does anyone know where I can get some??? I think I'm going to do the dash pad and dash face, since the vaneered wood is deteriorating as well.

Thanks for suggestions in advance.

Ian

Seems to be several options: Leave as is with one of those fuzzy covers, buy a replacement/ new one or get the existing one recovered. I'd op for the later, which we did on both our 914s and it cost about $60 each which included the removal and reinstall of the dash. I think it sure looks a lot better. Of course a new one is the best way, but they are hard to get it seems although PP could find one probably.

There is also a vinyl cover that very closely mimics the original dash cap. From what I hear (haven't seen one that I know of) it is very tough to tell from the original dash cap.

If you have wood veneer on your dash, some PO has installed it for you. Replace with anything you like--basketweave vinyl is original to some (or most) years, but it's your car. You can put anything you like on there...

I have the vinyl cover that Dave is talking about. It fits the dash like a glove and is unnoticeable. Cost is about $90. I ordered mine from TWEEKS.

I have the cap that looks almost identical. However this summer in Atlanta it "warped" and now nolonger lays on the dash. The instrument cowl seems to have shrunk and the sides bow up.

I'm tired of this and am thinking a felt pad and dash, kinda like GT. Then turned aluminum for the glovebox door and instruments.

Thanks for the ideas
