Will wheels with a 5" backspace fit?
Looking at buying some new wheels. They are 5.5 x15 with a 5" backspace. Will they fit my narrow body 914? TIA

Stock backspace, iirc, is 4.75" (4 3/4"). Fitment could be limited by tire choice (ie, a 185 might fit, a 205 might not), fender lip rolling, camber and ride height etc. Could also be an issue if the car was hit at one point and not repaired right.

They should fit, depending on tire size.

Yes, there is a possibility. I do not think it is likely. Your rear camber will influence that, and possibly other things as well. There's a good chance you won't need to flatten or trim the fender lip, as is somewhat common with stock wheels and that size of tire.
Note that it's a whole lot easier to move your wheels outward in the fender using spacers, than to move them in toward the center line. The tires would almost certainly rub in the inner front fender when the steering wheel is turned full lock. This happens with stock-offset wheels as well. Usually that only occurs at low speed, so most of us just accept it. Yours may be more severe. --DD
