Hoses behind turn signal switch
While removing the turn signal switch on my 75 914, I noticed there are two rubber hoses attached to the back side of the switch along with the usual electrical connector. What are these hoses for? Thanks.

Sounds like the windshield washer system to me. 914s had this freaky deal where a tube went from your spare tire to the steering column to the fluid bottle. When you pulled the switch, air form the tire was used to spit fluid on the windshield. Great until your tire went flat.
I think people have been retrofitting 924 electric pump systems for a couple of years.

DON'T TOUCH THE HOSE! Those feed the energy from the flux capacitor to the engine.
No.. those are for the pressure fed wiper system. Regards,

If the system is working properly, there is supposed to be a valve that makes the washer not work if the spare tire drops below 29psi.
HA, yeah, right. I've seen to many 914's with clean windshields and flat spares to see the flaw in that system! Don

It can also cause your spare tire to suck in windshield washer fluid if the check valve is bad. Then you go to use the spare, and the vibration will shake your teeth out until you get the water out of the tire.
BTDT... and it's in an old copy of Upfixin Der Porshce.

Clay, what is the correct part number for the 924 switch. I tried this last year then gave up as none of them fit.

They do fit, but it requires a weird magic incantation that I can't remember right now.

My local flaps had a aftermarket pump called a "superpump" which sounds like a porn movie yet works pretty well. Installs in minutes and utilizes the original bottle and lines..peter

I tried the tech article and that part wasnt going to fit unless I used a BFH! Way to big.

The part number for the 924 wiper switch is "111 953 519 G" When you get it, you will have to change the plastic wire guide for it to the one from your original wiper switch. It has an additional circuit for the washer pump, as well as the connections for the hoses for a 914 washer. You can remove the hose connections, but it's not necessary. Just jumper one of the switch wires to the power for the wiper motor, and put the other on the connector that is above the plane of the plastic switch connection. That will connect it to an unused brown/white wire that is sitting by the wiper motor. Then just hook the washer pump to that wire, and connect the other side to ground. If you did everything right, you should be able to pull the switch and hear the pump run.
